This full time permanent position is located within the Bureau of Administrative Services and Technology within the Department of Financial Institutions, headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison. The Department of Financial Institutions is predominantly Program Revenue funded collecting annual revenue of over $109 million, including over half in the form of electronic revenue from online credit cards, ACH, and e-check transactions. As the Accountant-Senior, you will be responsible for the high-level oversight of the receipting and cash management functions for the Department and act as the primary contact for all e-commerce initiatives in the agency. Your responsibilities will include reconciling, analyzing, and accounting for 23 organizational units.
Using your accounting expertise, you'll make recommendations for agency policies and procedures and providing technical guidance in accounting matters to other fiscal team members and business/program areas. Acting as the primary fiscal contact, you will be responsibile for developing and implementing new accounting applications to systems such as Enterprise Receipting and PeopleSoft.
You will also collaborate with the Bureau of Budget and Finance Director on the facilitation and development of both annual operating budgets and the biennial budget request.
In this role, you will provide back-up and support to the Bureau Director, assisting with fiscal estimates, legislative information, as well as a wide range of other fiscal-related activities.
This position is in schedule-range (07-03) with an annual salary of $62,400 - $78,000 (or $30 - $37.50 per hour), plus excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
