UES, Inc., has a laboratory technician position available to support research projects in the Biomaterials Branch within the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory. The successful applicant will join a dynamic laboratory with a broad range of expertise in materials science, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and chemistry. Under supervision, the technician will design and execute experiments using techniques from these disciplines to support research projects in biomaterials development and characterization. Duties may include but are not limited to: bacterial cell culture and manipulation, purification of culture components, RNA extraction, lipid membrane characterization, microscopy, protein expression assays, PCR assays, gel electrophoresis, nanoparticle synthesis and handling, and/or bioinformatics. The technician will assist in interpreting experimental results and therefore must keep accurate and detailed records of experimental data. Communicating research data is very important and the technician is expected to do so in written, oral and visual formats. It is imperative that the technician maintains a safe work environment and follows common laboratory safety policies. Productive and professional collaboration with laboratory and other personnel is also required. Travel to scientific conferences and collaborator institutions are possible. This position directly supports research within the Air Force Research Laboratory and will be located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, near Dayton, OH.
