The Interco recycling facilities are separated into three departments: nonferrous metals, computers and electronics, and battery processing. The nonferrous facility is located on the 40-acre main campus in Madison (IL) while the computers and electronics are processed in Edwardsville where the Administrative and some logistics offices are located. The commercial department is located on The Hill in St. Louis.

The patent-pending 22-acre 225,000 sqft Critical Mineral Recovery™ Lithium-ion battery processing plant in Fredericktown, Missouri is scheduled to open in Q2 2023

Job Description


Interco has an opening for a Commercial Assistant in the Industrial Metals Trading Department at the company's Commercial Operations office on The Hill in St. Louis, Missouri. We are looking for someone who wants to be great and work for a great company.

This job consists of working directly with and for the VP of Commercial Operations and the VP of Business Development assisting in buying and sales efforts of commodity-based metals domestically and around the world. An outstanding candidate should be able to write articulate and succinct emails, process and analyze information and synthesize both pricing and market information back to VP and the rest of the commercial team.

The ideal candidate will be results-oriented with a successful professional and personal track record demonstrating the ability to work both in a team environment and alone. This person is passionate, resourceful, perceptive, dependable, and driven with a desire to learn about and excel in an exploding industry. This candidate will have a yearning to develop and cultivate strong business development skills under the expert tutelage of a renowned manager.

Although this is an entry-level position, the right applicant has a very strong likelihood to advance based on demonstrated achievement because this person will work smarter and harder than the rest. This position is the training ground and precursor to the very lucrative Trader position within the company.

  • Must be self-motivated, decisive, and able to meet critical deadlines
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Experience utilizing a CRM is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills - puzzle-solving is very helpful
  • Excellent mathematical and negotiation skills
  • High achiever with attention to detail and accuracy and an urgency to do more with the time they have each day
  • A desire to learn and compete in a team environment
  • Must possess strong mental toughness and tenacity
